March 16th was an evolutionary milestone in the history of the motor car. It was the opening day of the 1961 Geneva motor show, and Jaguar showed its E-Type Coupe for the first time. It was a show-stopping artisan rendering of what a modern, closed-Coupe fastback should be; graceful, predatory, flowing, epic. A truly awe-inspiring car in the typical British GT tradition.
The Colour of Opalescent Silver Grey complimented with Black Bucket Seats just exaggerate the incredible visual impact, this wonderful E type.
YSG 595 was one of the 5 Scottish Motor Show Cars, produced in October 1961, Chassis number 13 out of just 133 FHC/RHD cars built in 1961, comes to the market having been cared for, by one Fastidious Owner for the last 28 years.
Whilst this is an extremely rare collectable E Type, this car is not an exterior Bonnet Lock Car, as this was a feature discontinued with Chassis number 86004 FHC/RHD.
A point confirmed in the extensive History file of this car by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
A history file for an early car such as this is so often found lacking. In this case the file is an eye -watering testament to the care & attention lavished on YSG 595 since owned in 1982. Included in the file a copy of the Original Buff Log book, also the production record trace certificate with the Original Car Handbook, all can be seen in chapter one! In a file that includes a detailed diary of each and every remedial task diligently undertaken over 28 years. This diary includes the cost/ and appropriate bill reference. The completed file amongst the very best I have ever seen, is a credit to the owner but most importantly a very valuable underwrite, for a car that stands out with Rock solid Provenance & exceptional Investment credentials.
Over the years recommended improvements & modifications have been undertaken always with careful guidance from Marque Specialists & with further Driving Pleasure in mind.
These includes , 5 Speed T5 Gearbox, Cooper Craft front brakes, Gaz front & Koni rear shock absorbers, kenlowe thermostatic cooling Fan , 6″ Competition Wire Wheels, Goodyear 205/70 NCT Tyres,Six Branch Classic Fabs Exhaust, spin on Oil Filter, Electronic Ignition, Alternator, Solid State Fuel pump, Poly- bushed steering, Halogen Headlamp bulbs,
Most importantly, given the Historical significance of “Chassis nos 13 ” All THE ORIGINAL PARTS have been retained including the Original Moss Gearbox & Cracked Cylinder Block . ( With these parts Chassis nos 13 is a matching Numbers Car )
The car is an absolute delight to drive , the 5 speed Gearbox silky smooth, giving wonderful access to Revs & Torque for which this legendary Jaguar 3.8 engine is renown.
This is a real Drivers car, presented with a Patina that fully does justice to the levels of care lavished over the years.
Mechanically a faultless car well suited to both the rigours of modern roads and a joyous blast in the country side.
