Louis Delage is often regarded as having made the finest French Car of the period.The Company was founded in 1905 by Louis Delage. The early fame of the Marque took route from Motor Racing, a Delage won the Coupe Des Voiturettes as early as 908. Louis himself taking the 1911 Coupe de l’Auto in a 3.0 – Litre four Cylinder Car.

Four Cylinder- D1 & 6 Cylinder cars formed the mainstay of touring-car production in the 1920′s, then in 1929 the magnificent D 8 -4 litre straight 8 was introduced & attracted the finest Coach Builders of the time, however Delage as with so many manufacturers were badly affected by the economic down turn of the 1930′s & in 1935 was taken over by Delahaye, Prior to this misfortune, Louis Delage had persuaded Arthur -Leon Michelat to return to the company, for whom he would design a new range of overhead Valve engines in an attempt to revive the Companies fortunes. Following the take over in 1935, Delages were built to Delahaye designs, but retained their own Superior short stroke engines & Hydraulic brakes.

The wonderful DS- D60 Sports Saloon offered for sale with Coachwork by Letourneur et Marchand is a Car sold new in France in 1935, built originally in its present Right hand drive form. The car was stored for many years, in 1998 the chassis, all brakes and engine were fully re commissioned, this work included re-built rear Leaf Springs with a total overhaul of both Brakes & Shock Absorbers. Prior to purchase in 2002. Finished in original period Blue, with correct original Blue / White interior the car exudes Patina & Originality adding a real sense of going back in time! In 2009 the car was fitted with correct Dunlop D2/ 103 Tyres reflecting the excellent driving Characteristics experienced from the car today.  Coach work / and paint have many stories to tell! With more than a few small scars from various nudges & knocks over more than 70 years ! (The car is simply too good to consider a full re-spray prior to sale, however it is intended to carry out some sympathetic paint work, a full engine detail and service with very minor fettling of the interior prior to Viewings.
This is an extremely rare chance to buy a truly Original Delage ( 2x Door Coupe ) from this period,the car drives well, the 4 Speed Manual Gearbox ideally suited to the Gutsy engine,this is a very satisfying Pre- War car for both Mountain Roads & longer Cruising.
