    RENAULT - 1975 Renault Alpine A110 1300 built to 1971 Gordini Specification

At Premium Classic Cars we are still surprised when the history and restoration of certain cars is revealed. Those that have followed our website in recent years, I’m sure will agree with me when I say that a variety of cars with outstanding credentials have been sold.

This Renault Alpine A110 is no Exception!

The A110 in French Powder Blue is iconic. This car has 5 speed gearbox configuration mated to the Renault Gordini 1296/cc Engine and is a Sensation to drive.

The car has been the subject of a ground up restoration and benefits from a bespoke beautifully crafted dash with Mono Bloc Switchgear with a layout perfectly suited for fast road and/or competition use.

Tillet Bespoke carbon fibre weave seats are superbly comfortable whilst supporting an excellent driving position. Original seats are also supplied with the car.

The car comes with a full lifeline plumbed fire system plus an up-to date FIA handheld fire extinguisher, an ignition master cut off and also FIA front and rear towing eyes. A full FIA roll-bar is fitted, providing further strengthening and safety. A correctly calibrated rally trip meter is ideally placed for Co-Driver operation.

In addition, we have made bespoke underfloor protection in aluminum to avoid potential underside-scars when driving on uneven or loose roads.

The Gordini engine revs freely and with peak power readily accessible. the close ratio 5 speed box is a joy and ratios are well matched to propel this small and light Car, very quickly.

The Alpine A110 was considered one of the strongest rally cars of its time; In 1971 Alpine achieved a 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Monte Carlo Rally and then repeated this exact result two years later.

This is one of the last of the 700 cars produced in 1975.

Restoration has included all the period correct features found on the 1971 Rally Monte Carlo cars and equally lives up to its expectation to drive. For the last 12 months Premium Classic Cars has prepared and maintained the car in parallel with completing the restoration to the present very high standard. The car has successfully competed in the 2013 Tour Britannia and is perfectly prepared for 2014.

Offered for sale with both suspension set up for road/ tarmac use and with raised ride height for snow!

The car will be sold with a current FIVA, Historic Passport.

No description of an Alpine A110 written by someone ‘who loves to drive the car’ could be complete unless reference to some medical theory is made!

It is sometimes thought that top rally drivers are handicapped in some way – The theory suggests that owing possibly to some accident at birth that the part of their brain that judges orientation has become detached within the cerebellum, falling to the cranial floor on its side and therefore adhering! In order to feel comfortable the victim has to compensate by proceeding with lifes’ business, ‘sideways.’

This affliction is the only rational explanation for the success of cars like the Alpine-Renault. The steering is delightfully accurate, taking only two and a half turns from lock to lock.

The handling is absolutely fantastic, in fact very comparable with a Lotus/Caterham 7!

With integral works bumper mounted Cibbies, the car lights up the road superbly whether the conditions are fog, snow or ice, or even just a night time blast!

As with all our sales, this car will be sold with a UK V5 and current MOT test certificate plus a recent full Dyno sheet from its most recent Rolling Road set up.

The history file for the car is 3 x Volumes and includes full details of the body off Restoration in 2002. A full photographic record is included along with a timeline showing the development of the car for Motorsport use. In Denmark during 2002, the Car was extremely successful with multiple class wins in the Danish Championship.

All the specialist suppliers of competition period correct parts for this wonderful marque are detailed; The history file is literally a library of reference for the car and credit to its previous owner, Claus Bjregland Andersen, who restored & rebuilt the car to such a high standard.

At this time the car competed in multiple circuit races driven by the talented Claus and enjoyed noted success.

In its present set up,the car is perfectly suited to any number of road and circuit events and would also be a competitive car for hillclimb and alpine rally events. This is a fully road registered car, freshly rebuilt, with fabulous blemish free powder blue paint and simply superbly suited for both motorsport and road use. This is a real drivers car with a sensational Gordini sound track.

Investment minded buyers will note the Alpine is increasingly rarely seen for sale and that blue french built cars are often the most desirable of all.

This car (supported with full details of the last 40 years) prepared to the highest standard and fully road or event ready is an absolute gem!
