    PORSCHE – 1962 Porsche 356B Coupe S90 LHD
    1962 Porsche 356B Coupe Super 90

The Porsche 356 was the first production Porsche and was first manufactured in 1948 as a 2-door lightweight rear engine sports car. It was created by Ferdinand ‘Ferry’ Porsche, son of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche (founder of the Company).

Very rapidly the Porsche 356 made its name famous in competitions including Le Mans 24 Hours, the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio.

The engine is an air-cooled flat 4 cylinder and the body design was inspired by the VW Beetle (brainchild of Ferdinand Porsche senior). With independent front and rear suspension, torsion bars and telescopic shock absorbers, this is a fabulous driver’s car that will be most welcome on all classic car events. Manufactured in 1962, eligibility is assured and all importantly the 356B in “S90” specification is a superb investment.

This car being a matching numbers Super 90 has a significantly more powerful power unit as it was fitted with the rare 90 horsepower engine at the factory.

This left hand drive Reutter-bodied Porsche 356 B Super 90 looks superb, currently with white bodywork and original black leather interior. The interior (including the carpets and headlining) has recently been restored and presents itself in fantastic condition.

Although Premium Classic Cars Ltd has only recently brought this car over from the USA; this Super 90 had an extensive restoration in the late 80s by (a now Mercedes-Benz restoration and dealership company) Franz Foreign Car Service in Jacksonville, Florida. This is very well documented in the history file.

Importantly, the car is completely original and totally “rot free” presenting in superb condition having been in dry storage for many of its last years in the USA. The car comes with its original steering wheel, sunroof, instruments, radio, clock, driver’s manual and amazingly two of its original Porsche service books from when it was first registered in 1962.

Now we the car in our custom here in the UK, this car will be the subject of a restoration in order to bring it line with the other fabulous cars we have for sale.

As a minimum, the restoration will include the following:

A full body re-spray returning the car to its original colour, Ivory white.
Engine out, with engine bay correctly painted and components restored and rebuilt to ‘as new’ condition.
    Full overhaul of all electrics.
All four corners completely stripped, restored and repainted. All suspension will be rebuilt, as will the brakes.
    Any necessary chrome professionally re-plated.

With our other fantastic 356 currently nearing the end of its ground up restoration; we expect this car to be equally as exceptional when finished.

Although this car is equally great on the day-to day road, this 356 would be superbly suited to regularity and winter rallies so the following options can very easily be made available as optional extras:

A full 12-volt conversion will be done with alternator and Hi-Torque starter motor.
Period correct racing seats with four point harnesses.
    Original period spot lights.
    Brantz rally trip meter/ Monit/Halda.
    Timing clocks.
    Kenlowe fan.
    Fire extinguisher.

All original items will be supplied with the car along with a full photographic record of the car’s latest restoration work.
This little car was a ‘supercar’ of its day. Quick with great handling, the steering simply superb. In this present specification it is possibly as good as it gets and offers great performance whether it be on the day-to-day road or for those fabulous winter rallies!
