Introduced in 1957, the Austin-Healey 100-6 Roadster was powered by a 26-litre Austin engine with 102 horsepower. The Car had a new longer wheelbase and body, which allowed two children’s seats to be fitted in the rear of the cockpit, a design change to meet American tastes. The vast majority of Austin Healey’s were sold in the United States. The 100-6 was discontinued in 1959.Donald Healey drove a prototype version of this car over 200 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats in August of 1956. The 100-6 was the first Austin-Healey to have a six-cylinder overhead cam engine with two SU side-draft Carburettors, a four-speed transmission with electric overdrive, and a new six-port cylinder head. 4,241 BN4 models were produced and 4,150 BN6 models were produced, but just only 284 were built for the Home Market as RHD.
“MSV 500” was built in1958, Re-built by Denis Welch Motorsport with Aluminium Body and Steel Bonnet, sold to Andrew Usher, a renown Campaigner of Race Healey’s in the early 80’s, incorporates all the most desirable Welch Performance upgrades for a Healey 100/6.
Subsequently sold by Dennis Welch to his Brother in Law, the previous Owner in 1986—– for last 26 years —– the car has been constantly upgraded & maintained by Denis Welch.
3 litre Block, built to full Stage 3 fast Road Spec with Blue Printed, lightened and balanced Fly-Wheel, Aluminium Gas Flowed Head, Forged Pistons and 2″ Competition SU’s, Denis Welch Inlet & Exhaust Manifold, High-Flow Aluminium Radiator, Tig – Competition Air Filters, Fully Baffled Competition Works Sump, Comp Clutch, Electric Fuel Pumps, Side Exit Comp Exhaust and Headers, Spin-On Oil Filter, Kenlow Fan with manual override.
Fully rebuilt by PCC and now set up on the Rolling Road, both Power and Torque are a joy to behold.
Estimated BHP at Flywheel 175/185BHP in Combination with a very uniquely and light Aluminium bodied Car simply breathtaking.
This Car is fitted with correct Period Hardtop and of course comes with a
new blue Mohair soft-hood ( a bespoke Hardtop-Stand is available ).
In addition the Car is trimmed in beautiful blue leather and has the rare
and extremely comfortable period lightweight seats in 100S LeMans-Style.
